Mother Nature could not have been kinder to us! The evening was dry, comfortable and clear. It was as if she knew the party was for her. Denise and I had worried a bit earlier in the week, but the morning of the party when the sun came out all worries melted away. Jim, Megan and José had met us early and before you knew it the decorations were up and the food prepared. Brian and the Bela Lugosis opened the party and got the crowd motivated. While they played, Adorable Mike - clad only in his bathing suit - romanced people to buy raffle tickets. Next up, with their inimitable blues and jazz, were Faye Green and Myke Ross. Jim moved all around the party freezing moments in time with the pictures you see below. Raffles were drawn as Faye and Myke packed up and the awsome sound track of summer music that Mark made filled the courtyard. Finally, Arlene rocked the house and finished off the night. The crowd thinned out and Denise and I were finally able to sit down and reflect on the successful evening.
We want to thank Joe Goodwin for the use of the bar, Joe Evangelista for his support and supplying the gift bags, Mark for that incredibly fun soundtrack, Bruce for watching the door for hours, Jim, Megan and José for helping with the decorations, Jim for photographing the event and getting pictures on the website right away and Mike for walking around half naked all night selling the raffle tickets. But most of all we want to thank Brian, the Bela Lugosis, Faye, Myke, and Arlene for donating their time and talent to make the night a resounding success. Generous thanks, also, to everyone who cooked for us, encouraged us and attended. The Farewell to Summer Party wouldn't have been possible without any of you. Enjoy the photos.
